In our opinion, colubrid snakes have long been the backbone of the American herpetocultural hobby/industry. And for good reason as they offer something for everyone from the beginning hobbyist to the seasoned professional breeder. Colubrids are the great treasures of the Americas and, unfortunately, we often cast them aside as "common" or somehow demoted versus their exotic foreign constituents (boas and pythons). We have an uncommon advantage here in the states. We are host to an enormous variety of snakes that are beautiful, easily managed, and pleasurable to keep. Also, we have the freedom to visit localities, herp the backwoods and roadways, and share in a great comradery with fellow herpers and friends. Some of my best experiences with this hobby revolve around flipping boards and combing patches of forest. Although we truly have a passion for all colubrids, we simply do not have the time or energy to manage everything we wish we could have. The animals below represent our favorite projects and the animals that mean so much to us. We established our colubrid colonies not because these are super rare or ultra expensive "morph" projects, but because these are snakes we have always loved working with. Please enjoy the following sections, they are a true labor of love!
