Speckled Kingsnakes

There is little doubt that my fascination with Speckled kings probably has its roots in my past, when I first was introduced to Diamond pythons.  There is something very attractive about a jet black snake with a brilliant yellow fleck on each scale.  After many years of ups and downs with Diamonds, I retired that project with a heavy heart.  I miss them, but I do not miss the stress and unpredictable success included with their husbandry and breeding.  Years later, I found an unusually attractive Speckled king a reptile show.  I purchased the animal and quickly became a fan.  In my pursuit for the best Speckled kings available, I acquired several beautiful specimens from one of my best friends in the business, Jim Sargent (www.splitrockreptiles.com). He has been working with stock collected in Harris Co., TX that offer some of the brightest, boldest yellows available. I also have animals from several Louisiana localities that express phenomenal speckling and yellow coloration. This king snake offers me the unique color-pattern I loved so much with my Diamond pythons, but with an ease of care and breeding that allow me to truly appreciate them, rather than fret over every decision I am faced with about them.  We are always adding animals to this project that meet the "diamond standard" of complexity and beauty.  We do recognize the importance and desire of many hobbyists to preserve locality variants of many colubrid snakes, and therefore do offer locality offspring as well as selectively bred trophy animals.  Our goal is to make the brightest and most colorful eye catching, jaw dropping, specimens and that often requires pairings of non-locality matched animals.
